St Matthew's Collegiate - Outdoor Education
St Matthew’s offers a wide variety of outdoor education activities which aim to:
· teach outdoor survival skills
· improve problem solving
· enhance teamwork
· develop leadership skills
· understand natural environments
· promote sprituality
Outdoor education activities include:
· Caving, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, windsurfing, rafting, tramping and cycling
· Adventure racing – combining problem solving and navigation skills to develop camaraderie and team work that helps develop maturity
· Odyssey programme for selected St Matthew’s and Rathkeale Year 12 and 13 students provides the ultimate physical and teamwork challenges and rewards
· Year 12 and 13 camps in Biology, Geography and PE
· Year 7 and 8 bi-annual camp
· Spirit of New Zealand
· Duke of Edinburgh Award
